We decided to take ourselves seriously in view of the results and to practice. We want to go fishing for results.
1 st Victory in Chartres
On May 5, 2019, my daughter and I did a triathlon. A first and a great experience. Since then we have participated in three others, one individual and two others as a team. The result, a third place and a victory over the Chartres triathlon.

On Sunday, September 12, I took part in the M triathlon at La Chapelle-d'Angillon (1,500 m of swimming in the lake, 58 km of cycling with 750 m of elevation gain and 9.8 km of running).
I had in a corner of my head the secret desire to make this format. Not easy to program for an effort of at least 3 hours but I persisted in training for 2 and a half years.
My professional activity at the time, SPL driver which led me to do an average of 270 hours of work per month, forcing me to organize training sessions after days under the lampposts or swimming pools which make nights (I often went to the Weppes swimming pool in Hernies). I organized my sessions according to where I was. Over time, I was able to view the routes to stop in suitable places.
I got fired in August 2020 and I embarked on this somewhat crazy challenge at 57 to realize this dream, to carry out an M triathlon.

The start is the only time when there is direct confrontation, blows, friction and even sometimes you find your head under water, which is not pleasant when you are under effort. To avoid a fight, you have to take the outside, which is longer but quieter. I'm a diesel so I can't rub shoulders with others, I only have one rhythm and I mustn't lose it even when passing buoys, I move as far away as possible, I know that the output of these, I am a winner. The stumbling block was to do the course in 30 minutes, it was done and without affecting my strength
In the triathlon, the participants do not spy on each other before the start, everyone is in their bubble, I even think that there is a little stress, the laughter that you have when you are in the group before entering the water, shows that for some, it is necessary to evacuate the anxiety before the departure because after the sound of the fog horn which indicates to the pack of party, finished the laughter.
Leaving the water
Leaving the water is the very black point of this triathlon and the only one, everything else is perfect.
You finish a 1500 m swimming part (30 min of effort for my part) and you find yourself facing a pontoon at surface level. Evacuate a body started by fatigue, my weight of 91 kg, my lost flexibility and the consequence is that when I straightened up, two cramps at the back of the thighs that had to be managed part of the rest of the race.
While talking with other participants about this handicap, it was my surprise to hear that they all had a negative anecdote about this water outlet even in the previous editions, it's a shame that the organizers don't find a solution to this issue.
I quickly realized that I couldn't perform today, too handicapped by the cramps that had no intention of dissipating. So I adopted the cycle touring pace (24 km/h) and that suited me well. I had time to greet all the people installed around the circuit and they returned it to me well. It had to be done 4 times, I had time to get to know each other. I remember that on the descending part, there was a young girl of about fifteen who was doing the pop pop girl, we greeted each other at every turn. In this party where we could expect 60 to 70 km h and I'm not sure there were many people who saw her, thanks to her for her dances it was nothing
When the bike arrived, I found the referee with whom I had a discussion on the course about a pair of gloves thrown at my daughter located at the edge of the circuit.

The transition
It's a transition from swimming to cycling.
It's time running out and it's part of the race so there's no time to look at pretty girls.
Missed for me, the cramps bother me at the time of the race and recovering the things on the ground is an extreme difficulty. It is necessary to avoid that the thigh is blocked and to manage to bend down to dress, an ordeal. I put about 4 minutes in this transition, way too much.
Bike part 48 km

I arrived last, I even had the honor on the last kilometer on the bike on which there is a "end of race" mark, I didn't know my plus but I was just certain of being the last. The second cyclist who accompanied the ballais bike had a lot of humor, he asked me to speed up but I was at full throttle.

Know that I find no excuse for my poor performance, the only thing I tell myself is that I succeeded in my bet, to finish and that if I want to do better next time, I will have to continue training. hard.
At the start, despite a side stitch, the pace was good and I had good hopes of catching up, but in the second round, the contractures of those damn cramps reappeared and slumped, finishing was only my goal.
There too we had to do 4 laps and in the 3rd lap the participants were rare and consequently the public, fortunately the officials remained numerous and friendly around the circuit, there was joy, thank you.
Fresh corner, for me it was an opportunity to spray myself with water. I had the honor of always having the same person who passed me two cups and always a wonderful smile, thank you.
The last lap and it's not boastful to say that in the end I went to find forces that I didn't know in me, I even told officials who were on the edge of the circuit in the last turn" I didn't think you could run so slowly" if I remember that made them laugh.
The second transition
It is at this moment that we realize that we will have to do something not to be ridiculous. The bike park is almost full and finally I am among the last. Having forgotten to start my watch at the beginning, I had no chronometric mark but strangely at that moment of the race, I felt pretty good.
